Ally McCoist
Position: Striker
Career: 1983-1998

McCoist was born on the 24th September 1962 in Bellshill. It took three attempts to get McCoist to come to Rangers. When first asked McCoist opted to go to St Johnstone. He was asked again by Rangers after scoring 23 goals for St Johnstone in 1980-1981 but he went to Sunderland instead. Rangers finally signed McCoist in June 1983 for a fee of £185'000. He scored 9 goals in 4 games for Rangers in their pre-season tour of Sweeden
McCoist made his league debut against St Mirren which ended 1-1. He finally got his first goal for Rangers a week later during a 4-1 win in a league cup match against Queen of the South. That season he finished top goalscorer with a hat-trick against C*ltic in the 3-2 win in the League cup final.
In an impressive career McCoist scored a total of 355 goals in 583 games for Rangers and won the Golden boot for 2 consecutive seasons (the first player ever to do so)
